Hey what's up!

I think it is the first time ever I talk about Vincent OS on the blog. I'm gonna talk about what happened since the launch of Vincent OS 1.0 Open Beta.

The Launch

Vincent OS 1.0 Open Beta was launched on 2025-07-05. For me, it was a big milestone I had ever worked on for many years.

For your information (if you don't know), this project was started in 2016, yes, almost 9 years ago. I started it as a hobby project in a software form, and I never thought I will make a true Operating System (a Linux distribution).

Since the launch, I saw some bugs and missing features, such as:

You can see the full list of issues on the GitHub issue tracker.

The Aftermath

After the launch, I work on fixing the issues, reporting bugs, and adding new features.

I have remarked that if you want to install Vincent OS, if the ISO has booted up with copy to RAM, the installer will not work.

This issue is currently being worked on and will be fixed for the release.

On the feature side, I will add a important feature: Vincent OS SDK, a set of tools and scripts to help developers to contribute to Vincent OS.

It will include:

The SDK will be available on the release of Vincent OS 1.0, some tools are already available on the GitHub repository.

The second major version of Core LivePatch is also being worked on.

The ISO

The thing that I want to talk about is the ISO.

Currently, the released version of the Open Beta has a size of 3.8 GB and the development I build is 4.0 GB.

I will try to reduce the size below 4.0 GB, but I can't guarantee that it will be possible.

Feedback

Your feedback is very important, if you want to report an issue, you can do it on the GitHub issue tracker, it is the best place to report anything.

You can also join the forum to discuss about Vincent OS and other projects.

And lastly, Vincent OS has a Bluesky account, don't hesitate to follow it!

That's all for today, see you next time!
